Toast - The Best of Bread San Jose Concert reviews
3rd time's a charm!
The best concert experience I've had so far was at my third Bread - Toast of the Best show. It was amazing to see him perform at House of Blues, a smaller venue that still provides a great atmosphere with lights and graphics. He really connected with the audience, even walking around the room during a solo. The "All Girl Moss Pit" idea got everyone excited. The music was powerful and loud, and his voice sounded strong and clear. The show ended with a bang as he performed "Dragula" and had everyone jumping. It was awesome!
The opening act, "Captian Clegg and the Night Creatures", was a perfect fit for the Zombie tour. They combined a rock-a-billy sound with crazy lyrics, creating a Halloween vibe in New Orleans. The lead singer engaged well with the crowd, and their music set the stage nicely for Rob Zombie. It was disappointing that my favorite song, "I was home getting hammered, while she was out getting nailed," was not on the CD available at the concert. However, discovering a new band and leaving with their CD was a bonus.
On the other hand, the second act, "Nexromantic," was a letdown. They killed the party vibe that Captain Clegg had started. While the drummer and guitarist showed some musical talent, the lead singer/bassist was terrible in every aspect. From his vocals to his stage presence, it was a disappointment. Even the coffin-shaped bass was cheesy. It felt like watching a mediocre teenage garage band. The crowd was even shouting for them to leave the stage.
